Description

It’s time for an OC I’ve mentioned before in writing but haven’t drawn until now, who will appear in Season 2 of :iconthe-doctor-w:’s DeviantArt Extended Universe.

In the Webcomic Nash & Friends, Morton Svengali “Morty” Barshefsky, also called “Boss Drillbit” (formerly “The Light Switch”), is Colonel Knight Rider’s uncle: a greedy construction company boss with a god complex who married CKR’s mother Fiona’s younger sister, Sileas, then made her bend to his will using unknown pharmaceuticals with dangerous potential if taken in high dosages.  He is responsible for the death of CKR’s grandfather and Fiona’s father, Sir Galbraith of Glasgow, who sacrificed himself to foil Barshefsky’s plans to detonate Glasgow, Scotland.  A skillful engineer, Barshefsky once built a pair of goggles that sent subatomic radiation signals enabling or disabling a person’s ability to see.  As his middle name suggests, he innately desires to manipulate whomever interests him, so he gave Sileas the ability to see in exchange for her free will the day before their marriage (Sileas received her name because she was born blind—in fact, her name means “blind” in Scottish Gaelic).  He once tried to bring Fiona into his flock of brainwashed minions, but, when CKR rushed to her defense, he heroically disarmed the goggles with COLT’s help and sliced off his uncle’s right arm before it could strangle Fiona.  Barshefsky has since replaced his arm with an electromechanical one featuring a hand with power drill fingers, which he uses to commit all sorts of destructive crimes.

(NOTE: He was supposed to have five drill fingers, but Nash characters are limited to only four fingers per hand!)

In the DeviantArt Extended Universe, Barshefsky is killed shortly after he kills Sileas when he convinces her to release him from a mental institution.  Sir Galbraith of West Caledon personally severs his head and brings it to the Royal Court of Gem World (known as the Royal Court of DA-Land ten years later) as a symbol of trust, but the head is preserved cryogenically until Season 2 of the DAEU, in which necromancers about whom the Dark One called Eschaton knows nothing pry Barshefsky’s disembodied spirit from the Spirit World and return it to his perfectly preserved head, which they install atop a mechanical body not dissimilar to the one seen here.  As such, the DAEU Barshefsky is essentially a hybrid between a revenant (NOT the same as a zombie!) and a cyborg, so I felt that Barshefsky’s resurrection would go hand-in-hand fittingly with the undead Draugar who plague Drodon in Season 2.

The character pictured belongs to me and Thanous Entertainment.  Please do not reproduce him in art of your own without our permission.  Thanks, and have a great day! :D

And, in case you were wondering, he is based on my real uncle, who has a god complex and became a Svengali in a way to the younger of my mother’s two older sisters.  If you ever come to the San Francisco Bay Area, AVOID MY UNCLE AT ALL COSTS!!
